Dr. Jayalekshmi R is a highly experienced Ophthalmologist with 27 years of dedicated service in the Government Health Services of Kerala. She has served in several district and general hospitals across the state, delivering comprehensive eye care to diverse populations.

She has performed over 10,000 Small Incision Cataract Surgeries (SICS), including complex and challenging cases, with excellent surgical outcomes. As the Head of the Mobile Eye Unit under the National Blindness Control Programme, she has led numerous eye camps across Thiruvananthapuram district, including remote rural and tribal areas. These initiatives included diabetic retinopathy screening and glaucoma detection programs.

Deeply committed to pediatric eye care, Dr. Jayalekshmi has played a key role in organizing school eye health camps aimed at early detection and correction of vision problems. She recently retired as Consultant Ophthalmologist from Taluk Hospital, Parassala.
