Cataract
Sutureless Cataract surgery is routinely performed in fully equipped operation theatre with laminar flow and stainless steel walls, using modern sophisticated surgical instruments. The surgery is done under Carl Zeiss (Germany) Zoom operating microscope with Sony CCD camera and advanced digital recording system. For precise preoperative evaluations of Cataract patients, we have INAMl slit lamp, WELSH ALLYN (USA) indirect ophthalmoscope, Ocular vision (USA) diagnostic lenses, ALCON (USA). A scan and Pachymeter, GANTEC (USA) B Scan. Most of the Cataract surgeries are done under topical anesthesia without any injection around the eye. All these patients are monitored throughout the surgery with pulse oxymeter and cardiac monitor. Patients are discharged few hours after Cataract surgery if they so desire. We offer phaco and microphaco with different types of rigid lenses, foldable lOLS and multifocal lOLS. We offer different package rates for cataract surgery, which enable us to cater to all sections of society.

Ours is one of the very few institutions in the country where the world’s first trimodal cataract removal platform ’INFINITY’ from ALCON, USA is available.

Glaucoma
Glaucoma the slowly progressive, potentially blinding disease needs early diagnosis and treatment to prevent blindness. We use the following facilities for diagnosis.Follow up and treatment of glaucoma.

• Humphrey Field Analyzer (HF A ii) the most advanced automated perimeter from Carl Zeiss, Meditech. It allows precise visual field measurements at a rapid pace.
• Applanatism Tonometer from INAMI for accurate assessment of intra ocular pressure.
• Non-contact tonometer which will record intra-ocular pressure without even touching the eyeball. Especially useful in people who had undergone Laser Corrections for refractive errors.
• Pachymeter from ALCON for measuring corneal thickness and correction of Intra ocular pressure when required.
• 90 D lens from YOLK for optic nerve head analysis.
• Ultrasound Bio.Microscope (UBM) from GANTEC USA that allows anterior segment visualization at microscopic resolution. Ours is the only center in South Kerala that has this sophisticated machine.
• Nd.YAG laser for peripheral iridotomies and capsulotomies.

We also have facilities for different types of anti glaucoma surgeries in our well-equipped operation theatre.

Paediatric Ophthalmology
Canon RFIOM fully automatic autorefractometer (computerised eye testing unit) takes the reading even in small children.

We are part of the 24-hour trauma care unit of the hospital involving multi-specialty participation. All types of ocular injuries are given due care round the clock.
