Considering the increasing demand for trained human resources in the area of allied medical services, Ananthapuri Hospitals and Research Institute has decided to start various job oriented courses at Graduate and Post Graduate level. The College of Nursing is a major endeavor in this respect. College of Nursing, Ananthapuri Hospitals & Research Institute is sanctioned by Government of Kerala. The college is started in the year 2007 and is recognized by Indian Nursing Council (No.18-16/3065, 31/8/07), Kerala Nurses & Midwives Council (No.G.353/06/NC 17/10/07), and affiliated to Kerala University (No.Ac.B/2007 31st /10/07). This college is started under the able leadership of Prof.C.Chandrakanthi, former President Indian Nursing Council and former Director of Govt. College of Nursing, Thiruvananthapuram.

At present the College is functioning in a new building attached to Ananthapuri Hospital which is centrally located in the city of Thiruvananthapuram and has easy access from the Railway station. The college is committed to the excellence in education and offers the students the advantage of high quality academic programme, distinguished faculty and exceptionally good facilities.

We recognize that the Basic degree course in Nursing should prepare Nurses for first level positions in Hospitals, Community and in Nursing educational settings. Nursing practice encompasses provision of preventive, promotive, curative and rehabilitative aspects of caring people across their life span in a wide variety of healthcare settings in collaboration with other health care professionals. Ultimately we believe that on completion of B.Sc Nursing course, they should become exemplary citizen by adhering to code of ethics and professional conduct at all times in fulfilling professional, personal and social roles.

FACILITIES

Laboratories

The college is spacious and has Lecture halls with most modern teaching equipments. The laboratories of Fundamentals of Nursing, Nutrition, Community Health Nursing and Maternal & Child Health are well equipped to facilitate effective learning. For biological sciences (Anatomy, Physiology, Biochemistry) the institution is affiliated to Gokulam Medical College, Trivandrum.



Library

The College of Nursing library consists of books of all specialities. National and International journals are also available. Library is spacious with adequate seating arrangements. To get access to modern trends in the field of health care administration, internet facilities are also provided in the college. A qualified librarian is in charge of the library.




Hostel

Separate hostel is provided for male and female students.

Principal

Prof.C.Chandrakanthi, Dean/Principal of the College has 12 years experience as Director Government College of Nursing, Medical College, Trivandrum and College of Nursing, Medical College, Kottayam. She is also founder Director/Dean of Nursing Colleges under M.G.University, Amritha Institute, Kochi and Colleges under private sector for more than 13 years. She is the former President of Indian Nursing Council, New Delhi and Vice President of Kerala Nurses and Midwives Council, Trivandrum

We are blessed with highly dedicated teaching Faculty with ample teaching experience and are qualified from various reputed institutions in the country.

Admission Requirements

Total No of seats sanctioned by Indian Nursing Council during 2008 admission is 50.

Eligibility
  1. The minimum age for admission shall be 17 yrs on or before 31st
    December of the year of admission.
     
  2. The minimum educational requirement shall be the passing of
    Higher Secondary School Certificate Examination ( 12 yr course)

    Or

    Senior School Certificate Examination (10 +2) or an equivalent with
    12 yrs schooling from a recognized Board University with Physics,
    Chemistry, Biology as optional and English with minimum of 50% aggregate
    marks.
     
  3. Candidate shall be medically fit.
     
  4. Candidate should qualify Entrance Examination conducted by Kerala
    State Government during the current academic year.
